Here’s some of what’s on the court docket for 2018. All dates are subject to change.

• Cameron Terrell — The 18-year-old Palos Verdes High School student is charged with murder for driving the getaway car during a gang-related shooting that killed a 21-year-old man in South Los Angeles on Oct. 1. Freed when his parents paid $5 million bail, he returned to school, sparking outrage among other parents. Terrell’s parents pulled him from school.

Next court date: Jan. 9, preliminary hearing, Los Angeles courthouse

• Bay Boys — Two lawsuits filed last year against the Bay Boys, an infamous group of territorial surfers in Palos Verdes Estates, are expected to play out in court in 2018. A federal lawsuit alleges the city has allowed generations of local surfers to harass outsiders — sometimes with violence — to keep them out of Lunada Bay, an isolated surf spot beneath multimillion-dollar homes.

Next court date: Feb. 6, Los Angeles federal courthouse

Meanwhile, a state lawsuit by two nonlocal surfers aims to have the Bay Boys labeled a criminal street gang, banned from the beach with an injunction, and order the city and Bay Boys to pay up to millions of dollars in fines for allegedly blocking beach access and building an illegal stone patio that has since been demolished.

Next court date: March 12
