George F. Canyon Nature Preserve Nature Walk

Saturday, July 20th, 2019 9:00 - 11:00 am

RPV, CA (07/20/2019): NEW!

The George F. Canyon is a hidden gem of Palos Verdes Peninsula and this nature hike offers the opportunity for a stroll along the willow filled canyon stream.  Parking is available in the lot for the trail off Palos Verdes Drive East and on site Nature Center focuses on the local habitat and history. This walk is ideal for families with young children as it is level with a clearly defined trail.

For those interested in geology, this hike provides a rare opportunity to see exposed Catalina Schist which is the bedrock underlying most of the Palos Verdes Peninsula.  The stream walk is also the perfect location for bird watching, so please bring binoculars if you have them.

We hope to see you on this hike which is new to our itinerary.
