Palos Verdes Intermediate School Principal Frank Califano got caught up helping raise money for PV schools.

Representatives of each of the 17 schools in the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District participated in the Skechers Pier-to-Pier Walk Oct 23. The effort, spearheaded by the Peninsula Education Foundation, encouraged families to participate through different competitions.

At Palos Verdes Intermediate School, the competition pitted the four houses of the school: the Narwals, Sea Lions, Sharks and Sea Turtles. The school met their walker goal, and the Narwals had the most walkers, a press release said.

So last Friday, the Narwals had the privilege to duct-tape their principal to the tree in front of the school.

“Mr. C. was a great sport and said he would do anything to help PEF keep our schools great!” the press release said.

Last year, PEF received a donation of $240,000 from the Skechers Foundation. PEF raises funds for academic programs that are essential to students’ success, having pledged $3.5 million to the PVPVUSD this year.
