The Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District has approved a tentative contract with school workers.

The district reached the agreement with the California School Employees Association, which includes food, clerical and security workers, among other positions. The contract does not impact the Palos Verdes Faculty Association, which represents teachers and is in the process of mediation with the district over stalled salary negotiations.

Under the agreement, CSEA workers will receive a retroactive 1 percent raise for the 2016-17 school year, and an additional 2 percent raise for the 2017-18 school year starting Nov. 1.

The association and school board still need to formally approve the contract. First, the union will vote on whether or not to accept the offer, and then district leaders will make their decision at a Board of Education meeting.
