Dr. Samuel French, a Rancho Palos Verdes physician, will be awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Research Society on Alcoholism this summer, according to a release from LA BioMed, a nonprofit biomedical research institute.
The award honors researchers who have contributed to alcohol research, training and advocacy, according to the release. French, a lead researcher at LA BioMed and chief of Harbor-UCLA Medical Center’s Division of Anatomic Pathology, has nearly 50 years experience studying alcohol issues, including alcohol-induced injuries and alcoholic liver disease.
His research projects have earned funding from the National Institute of Health, Department of Veterans Affairs and Canadian Research Council, according to the release.
French will accept the award at the society’s annual meeting in Denver June 28.
