A man fatally shot himself Thursday in Lake Arrowhead after allegedly killing a woman he was in a relationship with in Rancho Palos Verdes, officials said

Concerned family members asked deputies to check on the welfare of a couple living at a residence on the 27800 block of Palmeras Place at about 2:47 p.m., Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said in a news release. There, authorities located a 45-year-old woman suffering from traumatic injuries. She died before paramedics could transport her to a hospital.

Deputies later found the man with whom she had been in a relationship dead at another home owned by the couple located in Lake Arrowhead, sheriff’s officials said. He appeared to have died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Investigators believe he may have been responsible for the presumed homicide in Rancho Palos Verdes, sheriff’s Sgt. Paul Cervantes said. Homicide detectives were not looking for any additional suspects.
