Whale Day

Visitors celebrated the migration of the Pacific Gray Whale during "Whale Day."

When the Pacific Gray Whale migrates up the coast of California, it’s a cause to celebrate. And Rancho Palos Verdes celebrated in style with a “Whale of a Day.”

The April 14 festival celebrated the migration of the Pacific Gray Whale from its summer feeding grounds in the Bering and Chuchki Seas in Alaska to the winter breeding and calving grounds in Baja California.

The Marine Mammal Care Center’s mobile visitors center shared how their marine patients are treated by the center. A Kids’ Zone featured face painting, photo booths, inflatable jumpers and crafts for youngsters and the United States Coast Guard displayed on-site exhibits.
