Peninsula racked up more than 300 rushing yards en route to a 52-28 victory over Ontario Christian in last Friday's CIF Southern Section Division 11 first round meeting.
Peninsula (7-4) will travel to face Pomona (8-3) in Friday's second round. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Ethan Han ran for 218 yards and three TDs while Ryan Glover added a 36-yard scamper for the Panthers. Mason O'Connor delivered on special teams, returning a punt 55 yards for a score.
"We were able to control the game with our running game, and we leaned on the offensive line all night," Peninsula coach Dave Young said.
The win gave Peninsula its first playoff win since 2005.
"The team was excited, and the fans gave the team a big ovation," Young said. "It was awesome to see the Zoo show up and be loud, showing their love as always. I was happy to see everyone enjoying the moment."
Now, Peninsula is focused on what's next: Pomona.
"They pose a big threat with the athletes they have on offense, and they are explosive," Young said. "We will need to play a competitive game in order to compete."
